Athletes looking to improve or compete in a 70.3/Ironman event this year or the near future, and/or those who have completed a century ride. Once again, we also welcome pure cyclists. We will have 2 or 3 groups of different paced cyclists out on the road which allows scope for a variety of paces and experience levels. If you are unsure about the suitability of this camp for you, please email the Camp Director: firstname.lastname@example.org
If you are debating between bringing a road bike or triathlon bike to this camp and have the choice, then our vote is a road bike. Gearing should be set up to allow the rider to tackle long climbs as well as steep ones, with preferably a rear cassette with a 27 tooth cog. For a week long camp a road bike offers more comfort and is more suitable to the terrain offered with this itinerary. The exception to this would possibly present if you are racing within a month of this camp and need time on your triathlon bike in prep for your race.
We recommend two hotel options for this camp. The Meadowlark Inn is where our camp activities are mostly based. For athletes staying here, a nice breakfast is included in the accommodation price. Alternatively we recommend The Royal Copenhagen Inn which is located in the heart of Solvang and just 1.5 miles from the Meadowlark Inn. This hotel offers a wider array of room and price options. Both accommodation options are well located for accessing all camp activities.
The Meadowlark Inn is located just 1.5 miles from the center of Solvang. It is positioned near the outdoor pool, track and Vineyard run and just 1/3 mile from El Rancho Market grocery store:
The Meadowlark offers each guest a very nice breakfast which is included in the room rate. The inn has a variety of rooms available with a few of each room type. Standard single occupancy rooms start at $95 per night and standard double occupancy rooms (couple rate) at $120. For shared rooms with two beds, rates are $160 per room ($80 per person). There are also suites available with indoor Jacuzzi tubs. All rates include breakfast.

For reservations, email your request to:
(Note, if you try to book a room at the Meadowlark Inn on-line, it will look full as all the rooms are blocked off for the camp. Best to email your request for accommodation!)
The Royal Copenhagen Inn is our other recommended hotel for this camp and we have a room block listed under 'Solvang Triathlon Camps' at this hotel. The Royal Copenhagen Inn is located in the heart of Solvang, next to shops, restaurants and just 300yds from our local bike shop and 1.5 miles from the Meadowlark Inn.
Rates at this hotel are: King room $79 Mon-Thurs and $116 Fri/Sat or Two Queens $79 Mon-Thurs and $125 Fri/Sat. A continental breakfast is available for all guests which includes, coffee/tea/pastries/cereal/yogurt and eggs. For athletes who choose to stay at the The Royal Copenhagen Inn we run a shuttle back and forth to camp activities based at the Meadowlark Inn.
For more information and reservations:
The Spring Fling Camp offers evening meals each evening with the exception of one night which is left open for you to enjoy a local restaurant of your choosing.
Breakfast: Included in the cost of your chosen accommodation.
Lunch: We are typically on the road for lunch so leave athletes up to their own devices for this meal. There is a quaint, but fully stocked grocery store open 6am - 10pm every day just a few minutes walk from the Meadowlark Inn in Solvang. The store has a good selection of groceries, wine, a sushi bar, salad bar, deli (where you can have sandwiches made to order at any time of the day) and a coffee bar with wireless internet. There is also a natural food market with a super deli located in the heart of Solvang.
Dinner: Catered dinners each night (with the exception of free night) are all part of the camp fee.
Ride Food: Training nutrition and hydration provided by our sponsors and an array of real food snacks will be available throughout each training session.
